You were absolutely correct. I have a photo of Sargeant Major Peake in uniform. I blew up the photo and took a snapshot of the insignia on his sleeve. It show's Victoria's crown nestled above the crux of two crossed swords. This would be the insignia of the Queen's Gurkha Regiment (Brigade).
It seems my great uncle Thomas Started Peake Industries. I have letters sent to his sisters that have the original company logo on the return address. Apparantly it was more of a hardware store in those days. I am attempting to contact Thomas Peake's G.Daughter at this time.
I am her cousin.
