John Peach 1/13/10
My Dad, E. Peachey has family history that his great grandfather James Peachey b. 1833 came from Sussex but I have been unable to find any records that tell me where in England he was born. Dad had his y-chromosome tested in 2007 in hopes that we could find a English match to either Sussex or perhaps the Mildenhall Peacheys. He joined the volunteer Peach/Peachey DNA study group but up until now there were no matches. I found a Mildenhall Peachey descendant who was happy to contribute and lo and behold he and my Dad are a 62/67 marker match. They both have a fairly rare G2a3b haplotype as well. Most men from Northern Europe are R1b. In 5 years, this is the first match of any kind for anything over 12 markers. (12 markers are very broad and unfocused) This tells me a couple of things. 1; This Peachey lineage is distinctive. 2;It does not match that of the Peach lineage which is R1b. 3; that our Peachey's at least go back to Mildenhall, Suffolk Co. ENG. The 5 marker difference tells me that the common ancestor was probably 8-12 generations back. It does NOT tell me if hisline came from Suffolk and went to Sussex. One would need to see the results from someone who know he is from Sussex and compare.
