Talking to my dad this evening, he said he knew his grandfather had been captured during the Civil War and held in Andersonville, but he only made mention of it happening once. I do not have any of that documentation. However, I will pass this on to my aunt who has taken over this monumental task and she can respond directly. As for leaving Jesse behind, it is a mystery. My ggrandmother, Rosa, was originally hired as a caretaker for Frank and Ellis. She ended up marrying him even though he was 43 years her senior. She was obviously quite young when she had my grandfather (16). I've just started this investigation as a requirement for a college nursing class, so cause of death is of considerable interest to me.
