Trying to find information as to who where the parents of Susan Payne (b. abt 1822; d. after Oct 1883). She married George Donaldson about 1840, probably in Monroe Co., GA. George obviously died abt 1869 as Susan is listed as Head of Household in the 1870 Cleburne Co., AL Census with about 12 children, the youngest being 1 year old. I descend from Susan and George Donaldson's son, Henry. Henry's death certificate states that his parents (Susan Payne and George Donaldson) were from Monroe Co., GA. The Census records state that Susan's father was born in Virginia. Any information on this Payne family...Virginia, Georgia, Alabama....would be greatly appreciated. One son, I know, served in the Civil War, Wyatt S. Donaldson, 25th Alabama Regiment, Co. 1.
