Thnak you for your response and listing your sources.I agree with your 31 March 1731 date for Joseph PAYMENTS's birth, I made a late night typing error. And I will also accept Pointe-Claire as the marriage location, I think that was due to confusion about the names of places in Quebec.I'm learning all the time.I would be interested in seeing the children of Joseph PAYMENT and Angelique CHORET.I only know of the Joseph (born 1753 in Ste. Genevieve) that I am descended from.He married Marguerite MELOCHE and they had a son Francois Xavior PAYMENT who married Marie Josette/Josephte FORTIER on 30 July 1804 in St. Joachim, Pointe Claire. After Francois Xavior died on 13 December 1843 Marie FORTIER moved to Sault Ste. Marie either with her children or to be with her children. Her daughter Felicite got a job at Garden River at the Immaculate Heart of Mary, taking care of the Jesuit Priest. It seems Marie FORTIER took back her maiden name when she moved to the Soo so it was a tough time to find out about her.She had 12 children, Joseph, Josephte, Francois Xavior, Emelie, Marguerite, Michael Geoffrey, Felicite (never married), Veronique Leocadie, Felix, Pierre Alfred, Matilda (my ancestor), and Moses. This is the beginning of the PAYMENT family in the Sault Ste. Marie area.Denise
