According to the book THE PAXTON FAMILY - WE ARE ONE by Wm. W. Paxton published in 1903.
Willliam Paxton son of John Paxton and Elizabeth Logan was born June 8, 1805 in Rockbridge Co, Va died March 12, 1838 in Missouri married Matilda Alcorn born Dec. 21, 1810 died August 25, 1858. William came with his parents to Lincoln Co, Ky and there married. in 1846, the family came to Audrain Co, MO.
Children of William and Matilda were:
Parmelia Paxton, born dec 8, 1829 died June 15, 1850
Elizabeth Paxton born Sept 10, 1831 died 1854
James Paxton born Nov 23, 1835 married Penelope Fike
John Paxton born Feb 2, 1838 died Aug 2, 1894
Susan Paxton born Oct 6, 1840 died Jan 16, 1898 married Tilton H. Conkling in 1860
William Paxton born Dec 2, 1842 died Oct 27 ?
Children of William were:
William B. Paxton born Sept 24, 1867
Clarence b Aug 14, 1869
Guy Paxton b Dec 5, 1875
Edith Paxton b April 16, 1883
Last child of William and Matilda was
Dr. Clayton A. Paxton
(the name Clayton is from the Alcorn line)
William and Matilda are both buried in the Fairmont Cemetery which is in Middletown Missouri. William stone is broken and death date is unreadable. The stone next to them is Clayton Alcron born in Lincoln Co, Ky Nov 30, 1800 Died in Montgomery Co, MO Sept 12, 1858. Middletown is were my family were born and raised and my grandmother was a Paxton.
