William Paxton 1867, Montgomery Co. MO

I'm trying to establish the parents of my Wm. Paxton who married Izora Walton. I believe his parents to be William Paxton b.abt. 12/2/1836 in Lincoln Co., KY, married Mary E. Hayden b. 1851 in Hardin Co., KY.
Children of Wm & Mary E, are, my Wm.,b.1867, Clarence b. 1869, & Guy Clayton b. 1878.
I believe the parents of Wm. b. 1836 are: William b. 11/8/1805 who married Matilda Alcorn in Lincoln Co., KY. However, their son, Wm is listed as b. 12/2/1842. Month & day is same, but it isn't unusual to see a wrong birth year. This couple also named a son Clayton and my Wm named a son, Clayton. (Not a common name) Can anyone verify this for me and am I correct to think that my Wm b.1936 and the Wm b.1842 are probably the same?
