Cynthia Jane Paxson, dau of John Paxson & Elizabeth Griffin, b.1825 in GA.

Her father was the son of Mary Webster and Jacob Paxson. He was born 16 July 1768 in Hunterdon Co, NJ. His parents were members of the Kingwood Monthly Meeting Society of Friends. (Quakers)

His father, Jacob Paxson, died in 1777 and Mary took the children to Bucks Co, PA. She remarried 12 Dec 1781 in Bucks Co, PA. to William Betts.

They moved to Loudoun Co, VA and then to Campbell and Bedford Co, VA.

John Paxson married Nancy Moorman 18 April 1793 and had a daughter, Dosha, 12 May 1794. Nancy must have died soon after Dosha's birth, and the Quaker records tell us that he moved "without a certificate". He left Dosha with his wife's family and moved to Georgia.

27 March 1799 he married Elizabeth Griffin in Wilkes Co, GA. They had 10 children, the youngest being Cynthia Jane.
