FORMER DELAVAN MAN DIES IN CALIFORNIA
Delavan, Ill, Sept. 10, 1926 - (Special)
Henry Pawson of this city has received word of the death of his brother Edward Pawson at his home in Sierra Madre, Cal., Friday September 3, following an illness extending over several years. Funeral services were held Tuesday of this week, but the place of burial was not stated in the letter received from his sister-in-law, Mrs. W.H. Pawson.
The deceased was the son of the late Thomas and Rebecca Pawson and was born in Albany, Ind.July 6, 1850.He cam to Illinois with his parents the fall of 1864 and settled on the farm east of Delavan, now occupied by Donald Pawson and family.A few years later in company with Edward Sunderland and others, Mr. Pawson went overland with some merchandise for Henry and Harvey Pratt to the Indian Territory and Texas.On January 20,, 1876, he was united in marriage with Miss Sallie M. Sunderland, daughter of the late Richard and Martha Sunderland.They went to housekeeping on the farm situated midway between the Pawson and Sunderland homesteads east of Delavan.They were the parents of one son who died in infancy.Mrs Pawson died October 12, 1878.
After farming for a short while following the death of his wife, Mr. Pawson cane to Delavan and engaged in the harness business with J.L. Hill.Later, he was a traveling salesman for the Walter a. Wood Harvester company and still later he engaged in the Lumber business at Paxton, being a member of the firm of Andrews and Pawson.On August 9, 1892, he was married to Miss Jennie Orr, daughter of the late Rev. and Mrs. James T. Orr.They were the parents of two sons, James Edward, who is now an attorney of Long Beach, Cal. and Jesse Allen who died quite young.Mrs. Pawson died in 1903.Mr. Pawson shortly after moved to Sunnyside, Wash., where he engaged in business.He was united in marriage to Miss Addie Rohrabaugh in Phoenix, AZ in 1907.He then disposed of his holdings in Washington and moved to southern California to reside.
