Seeking information on Dr. Annie Florence PAWLEY. She m. after 1910 to Marion Thomas "Tommie" PATE (1883-1976). During the 1930's, Tommie owned several grocery stores in Columbus, GA, including St. Elmo Grocery. He and Annie lived in a house connected to the back of the store, and she was killed in house fire (perhaps in 1936). Tommie m2. 1949 to Floye Katherine MOSS.

Dr. PAWLEY is said to have come from England and had a daughter by a previous marriage, Miss Venus PAWLEY. Miss Venus was dear friends with Ethel Elizabeth SIZEMORE (b. 1902) when she was growing up in Chattahoochee Co, GA. Ethel's grandmother, Frances (SIZEMORE) ROBINSON, was a midwife who worked with Dr. PAWLEY there. Venus subsequently married a BYRD or BIRD and lived in AL. It is not clear if Florence was Dr. PAWLEY's middle given name or maiden name. Any information pertaining to these individuals or their families would be greatly appreciated. -- John Mallory Land <retrofit@flash.net>
