Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately I do not live near Exeter. I live in Northamptonshire. However as Pavey is an unusual name I think that you could be right and that there is a connection somewhere. I wish I could go back further but John Pavey is as far back as I have thus far been able to go.

Did I mention that John Pavey & Jane had another child called Matthew born 1772 in Coombe Raleigh.

I have found a possible marriage for John Pavey to a Jane Sparke in Yarcombe 14 Oct 1754. However Jane & Matthew were born in the around the 1770's, unless of course John & Jane had other children earlier on. I have found 5 children born to a John Pavey and Jane in Yarcombe in the 1750's and 60's. Could this couple have moved to Coombe Raleigh and then have Jane and Matthew? Difficult to know without more research. Have you come across this couple an their family in your research?
