In Reply to: PAULSEN from Schleswig-Holstein to Iowa by Marcia Paulsen of 217

My Paulsen family is said to have emigrated from Schleswig-Holstein to Iowa during the 1880's. My gr-grandmother was Meta Marie Paulsen b 23 Mar 1877 and her brother was Peter Paulsen b 25 May 1878. Both lived around Hampton, Iowa in the late 1800's. On a census record Meta Marie indicates that she came to the US in 1887. They married brother and sister Carl Christian Larsen and Christine Larsen. Peter and Christine Paulsen stayed around Hampton, and Carl and Meta Marie Larsen moved to near Morris Minnesota and later to Hopkins, Minnesota in retirement.

I only recently found that Meta and Peter's father was Andrew Paulsen. I know nothing about him. Verbal history says nothing aobut his coming to the US, yet Meta would have been only 10 years old in 1887 when she is said to have come to Iowa. I thought perhaps she could have com with other family members.
