Paull Family Genealogy Forum
Truthfully, I can't confirm WHERE she was born. In our files we have "Illinois OR Indiana". Census records, where we ASSUME she gave the data, indicate a birth place of Illinois. 1870, 1880 and 1900 say her father was born in Germany and her Mother in France. No one in the family has any records except those census records. We DO have the pages from Thomas D. and Margaret's Family Bible. Not much information there except dates of birth, marriage, and death of some of their children. (All births).
The marriage record in Montgomery County, Illinois contains a statement: "Thomas D. Anderson, being duly sworn under oath says he has neither Father nor Mother living and is without a legal guardian in this state, and that Miss Margaret A. Paul has the permission of her Mother, her surviving parent, to be united in marriage to any person she may choose." Subscribed and sworn to before J. S. Blackwelder, County Clerk, recorded by William Abbot, Deputy.
In the Family Bible, her name is recorded as Margaret A. Paull....note the two "ls" while there is only one l in the marriage record.
