If this is the same Uriah Paulk, he was a somewhat wealthy man from Alabama. He was on the train from Alabama to Macon, Georgia, traveling in the passenger train, near Reynolds, Georgia, (Taylor County) on the SW Railroad.
News article reported his death to have occurred the latter part of December 1856. He was on a trip from his home near Union Springs, Alabama (which is now Bullock County, Alabama) and was injured when two trains collided. He had jumped from the train and when they collided, the collision drove the car back over him. Both of his legs and one of his thighs were badly fractured, serious injuries about his chest and a deep cut on his forehead. He died on a Sunday.
