Am looking for information on John Pauley who married Mary Grayson.
I have a book that states that the parents of Hiram Pauley was John and Margaret Meadows Pauley. However, when Hiram married, his mother was listed as Mary "Polly",which is not uncommon to list a stepmother.
John Pauley married 2 April 1851 in Wythe County, Virginia.
Surety John Cubine; March 29,1851; Consent of Mary Grayson for her marriage to John Pauley.This sounds as though she had some age to her.
I know that this Mary could not be Hiram's mother, but could John have married two different Mary Graysons?
The only Mary Grayson of any age that I could find in the 1850 Wythe County, Virginia census was 45 years of age.
Can anyone tell me if I am on the right track?
