Don't know if this if your family or not, but in a West Virginia history book I found John and Margaret Hanley Pauley who left the Greenbrier area for Kentucky. They were attached by Indians near the East River in 1779. Mrs. Pauley and her sister-in-law (Hanley? Pauley?) were captured, but the men and children were killed.

I have John and Elizabeth Pauley. He died in Nicholas County, Kentucky in 1821, but I don't know if there is a connection.
