Ms. Harris,
I do not have any specific information as to your William Paul, however, my family shares some geographical similarities.
My gg grandfather is George William Paul, b. abt. 1827 in Alabama.I do not know anything about his parents other than it is reported on census that they were from North and South Carolina respectively.I first pick up George William Paul in 1848 residing in southeast Dallas on the east side of the Trinity River near the community of Rylie (now in the City Limits of Dallas). This would be about 120 miles northwest of Henderson, Rusk County, Texas.
I believe George William Paul had arrived in Texas with brothers, and that some of them fought during the Civil War.He later moved to Bosque County in about 1864, and returned to Dallas County sometime in the 1880's.His wife and grown children all moved to Duncan, Stephens Co., Oklahoma (Chickasaw Nation, Indian Territory) from reasons unknown to me.
I hope these locations may be of help to you.Perhaps these two families traveled together as it would seem coincidental that shared the same origination in NC.
