There is no legitimate surname called Cyrus.....John Siers the elder: b 1700 had a son Jamesv.c 1720 who had a son John b. 1746 who married Sarah Paul...who had a son James b. 1770 who married Francena Roach.....they are the ones who had son Jesse Siers aka Cyrus b 1808
Its the southern accent that molded the sound of Sayers into both Sawyer (dragging out the A) and SEE-AS (blending the A and Y together) and eventually into Sears and Cyrus
I dont recall the time when Cy-rus stopped sounding like See rus and became Sigh-rus; again: probably as a result of nearly no one being able to read and write and a strong southern bent....
However: you can be very confident: its all the same family starting with John the Elder.
