I was in Prince William and Facquier about a month ago and got some records. It may be that this line was also French Huguenots.
FYIJust in our Cyrus line of Kanawha, Putnam, Cabell counties, I found the name spelled Sires, Siers, Sayers, Syers, Sawyer, Sias.
I have an Isaac who married Peggy Cummings living in Putnam Co.One of his daughters married a Charles Cummings in 1841 in Kanawha Co., probably a first cousin.A Charles Cummings posted bond for Isaac's marriage.I believe the younger Charles was son of Robert Cummings who in turn was a son of Charles Sr.but I have to do some research to confirm.Isaac married second to a Polly Newhouse. I have some of Isaac's children, but am missing a son and a daughter.
I also have a James who lived in Cabell and was close to my Elijah.I think they were brothers. James left a will and listed all his children.I am writing a book on my husband's family and am finishing up my research on this branch. All three of these Cyruses named had sons named William.
What I can't figure out is the connection to Jesse Cyrus of NC.The Wayne line connects to him, and some researchers think the Putnam line does, also. But there are no jesses in our lines. There are a lot of John Henrys, James, William. Both Putnam and Wayne county Cyruses have an Albert.Because our line is so closely tied to Pauls, I wondered if we were from John and Sarah Paul's line instead of jesse.I know several Cyrus men from Monroe west to Braxton County.
