According to the book "Long Island Genealogies" written by Mary Powell Bunker, published by Joel Munsell's Sons, Albany, New York, 1895, pp 220-226 as it pertains to the James Jackson-Rebecca Hallett family, their son Benjamin Jackson was married to Amy Paul, a widow. There was no date or location for the marriage and it was not specified if this was Benjamin's first marriage.
Benjamin Jackson, b.1719 in Hempstead, Queens Co., New York was closely associated with Abraham Paul.Beginning in Edgecombe Co., NC before 4 Apr 1750 when both Abraham and Benjamin recieved Land Grants located in what was then Anson Co., NC.Abraham recieved Grant 612 and Benjamin 613, both grants were located on the banks of Thompsons Creek near the Pee Dee River. This area later became Craven Co., SC.
Abraham wrote his will on 13 Jun 1751 Craven Co., SC and it was probated on 9 Oct 1752 in Anson Co., NC.Benjamin Jackson and his brother Stephen Jackson were named as co-executors.
No documentation of the marriage exists, that I am aware of, but there appears to be enough resonable evidence of association to cause one to believe that Amanda Forrest Paul, aka Amey, was actually the widow who married Benjamin Jackson.Descendants of Edward Jackson, s/o Benjamin Jackson (yDNA proof on this line) insist that Amy Paul Jackson is the mother of Edward. He was born 14 Feb 1755 in Craven Co., SC.
