Suzanne,
I am not aware of a connection between my husband's PAUL family and one you wrote about, but I noticed something interesting. You mentioned your PAUL family came on ship "Alesto" to New York on 10 December 1841.
There are at least two other families on that same ship that were PAUL's.They both had children baptized in Isle Abbotts, Somersetshire, England.
Sebra PAUL and Thomas LUMBARD married 25 July 1837 in Isle Abbotts and brought their three children with them. They settled in Illinois, including Will County and surrounding areas.
Hannah PAUL and John FRENCH married 26 June 1825 in Isle Abbotts and brought their six children with them. They settled in Skaneateles, Onondaga County, New York.
We are trying to determine if or how Sebra PAUL and Hannah PAUL are related to our George PAUL Sr.George PAUL Sr. and his wife Mary BRASS came to United States in June 1844 on ship "Philadelphia".They stayed about three years in New York then settled in Will County area of Illinois. After Mary died he went to Skaneateles, New York where he married widowed Hannah (PAUL) FRENCH.After Hannah's death he married twice widowed Sarah (ADAMS) PAUL WINNELL.
The first husband of Sarah ADAMS was a Joseph PAUL who died before the 1841 census. When she came to United States with her second husband and son James PAUL we do not know, about 1855.She too settled in Skaneateles, New York. The informant for death of her first husband was his brother George PAUL.We are in process of trying to find out more about these who brothers and how they tie into the other PAUL individuals. They were from parishes next to Isle Abbotts in Somersetshire.
