John James Paul family England to PA and NY
I am looking for information about this family:
John James Paul (b. ca 1801/03 England) and his wife Mary (b. ca 1805/10 England). They came to the U.S. on the ship Alesto from Bristol to NY, landing 10 Dec 1841 with their children Alfred (b. 1833 England), Matilda (b. 1835/6 England) and Robert (b. 1839/41 England).
In 1850 they can be found in the MIddlebury, Tioga County, Pennsylvania census (Family 82-85) with these additional children:Charles (b. 1843 NY), John (b. 1845 NY), James (b. 1846 NY) and William (b. 1847 NY).
The daughter, Matilda Paul, married Oscar King.I believe Matilda later married someone named Carpenter, as she can be found in the 1870 Census inWard 20, District 21, New York City, under the name Matilda Carpenter, with her children Oscar King (b. 1851), Alida King (b. 1854) Alfred King (b. 1855-57) and Martha (could be Martha Carpenter) (b. 1858).
I am descended from Alida King, daughter of Oscar King and Matilda Paul, who married Leo Lanning.
I would like to correspond with anyone who may have additional information about this family. Thanks!
