Hello Jim,
I just wanted to let you know that I did join the Paul DNA project when the message was first posted on this site.In addition I joined the National Geographic project.
I received my results yesterday.
I knew that I decended from a Daniel Paul who came to Virginia from Scotland around 1740 as an indentured servent.
What my DNA testing showed was that I belonged to a particular group that is characterized as Vikings.Wow!I had no idea.I had 12 Marker Y-DNA exact Matches from individuals from Great Britian, England and Iceland. My highest percentages of matches were from Iceland.121 individuals from Iceland submitted DNA samples and in 11 of the cases I had exact matches of the 12 Marker Y-DNA.I was amazed at this. The Vikings invaded Great Britain so I guess I am a product of this invasion.
I would highly encourage Paul family members to be a part of the Paul DNA project. The National Geographic Project also takes one on a journey of their deep history by using genetic markers. My ancestors came from one individual in Africa who was called the Eurasian Adam.Over 90% of non-Africans decended from this person. My ancestors moved through the Iran/Iraqarea through the middle east to the Balkans. From there they must have gone to northern Europe to become Vikings.
Very interesting,
Rick Paul
