Hi cousin! Your Stephen Deal was either a brother or half-brother to my GGGF, John Deal.We believe that Fidelia Paul is actually Bosteion Deal's second wife, the first being a Sarah Crimby or Quimby, supposedly from Ireland. Unfortunately, his obituary does not clear this up:
"John Deal, son of Bos John Deal, was born on a farm in Onondaga county, NY, November 12, 1832.November 4, 1860 was married to Elizabeth Vader and the same week moved to Racine county, Wisconsin. To them were born two sons and three daughters of whom only one, Sarah Deal, attained maturity.
At the age of 29 he enlisted in the service of his country, joining the 22nd regiment of Wisconsin Volunteers and served 3 years amd 4 months.During this period he took part in the battles of Thompson's Station, Peach Tree Creek, Chattanooga and Lookout Mountain. For 40 days he endured the horrors of Libby Prison, being released just in time to join Sherman's March to the Sea.He remained in the service until the close of the conflict, then returned to Wisconsin where he remained 15 years.
In the summer of 1880 he moved to Waverly Township, where he settled on a farm.
January 23, 1881 he was married to Mrs. Elizabeth Barker, who survives him. They remained on the farm 19 years. after which they lived 6 years in Bloomingdale, finally coming to Gobleville 11 years ago next November.
He leaves his wife, Mrs. Elizabeth Deal; a brother, William Deal; 4 grandchildren, Norris Fink of Kenosha, WI, Mrs. Hazel Christianson (sic) of Corliss, Wis.(now Sturtevant, Racine Co., WI), Herbert and Floyd Fink, now in the United States Army; one great granddaughter, Dorothy Fink; a step-daughter, Mrs. Cora Tibbetts; and two step-granddaughters, Elizabeth and Hazel Tibbetts.
Mr. Deal was a devout believer in God and the truths of the Bible and with his first wife joined the Baptist church during his residence in Wisconsin.Later he united with the Town Line M.E. Church near Gobleville and finally with the M.E. church in this village.
He was a member of A. Colvin Post in Gobleville and attended their meetings when his health permitted. The surprise reception given him by the G.A.R and W.R.C on his 83rd birthday was one of the bright spots of his last days.
He passed away on Easter Sunday, April 8, 1918, aged 84 years, 5 months and 6 days, at his home here, leaving the memory of a generous and kindly life not to be forgotten.
Funeral services were held at the Methodist church Wednesday afternoon, with Rev. W.E. Goltz officiating, burial at Robinson Cemetery."
