Yours is a fairly old post, so I hope you will get this.
You mentioned that your Presley Paul relative was probably of Choctaw descent, and that caught my attention.
I'm looking for records on my great-grandfather, also a Presley Paul, who was Choctaw. Born 1850 (probably in the Indian Territories), left Paul's Valley, Oklahoma at some point and settled in Louisiana. Died in Elizabeth at the age of 89. He was married to a woman (no name yet) who was part Choctaw and part Cherokee.
My grandfather, his son, was Hardy Paul and lived in the Oakdale, Elizabeth area in Louisiana.
Information on Presley is very sketchy. I don't think he was literate, because I was told his family history was written on his barn wall which later burned down.
