Bettie,I have since determined that the native connection is probobly with the St. Francis, Abenaki, or Sokokilocated just north of the Vermont, Canadian border, and that the falls mentioned was Roxton Falls,Quebec. My grandmother was born in Bedford, Roxton Falls, Qc, Canada. The Lake Champlainarea is most likely a vital area as well as Deux-Montagne ( Two-Mountains), also in Quebec. If you have anatlas, you will find Bedford or Roxton Falls above Vermont and N.Y., near Lake Champlain. Please let meknow if this helps. My grandmother was born Mathilda Major, her mother was born Cesaire Monty, her motherwas born Cesaire Tessier, daughter ofJoseph Tessier dit Cournoyer/Hus, andLouise Tetreau. If you getback to this site, and feel this is the right line, E-mail me at [email protected]
