Hi Rick,
I am so happy to hear from you.I would love to add you to the list of Paul researchers. We are growing in number and share any new information that we find with each other...a kind of loose knit family organization.I wish that I could give you something substantial to further both yours and my knowledge of the Daniel and Hugh Paul found in Prince William Co., VA.
these are the facts:
Hugh was on Geo. Washington's Regiment during the battle of Great Meadows and gives his age as 25 yrs making him born about 1730.He is of Scotch descent as he notes.
Daniel is a guess based on his death, believed to be in Greenbrier Co. VA.His relationship to Hugh is unknown, but PROBABLY is the brother of Hugh.
I am currently exploring the possibility that these two men are related to the family of Hugh Paul further up the Potomac River in Frederick Co., VA.They are not sons, but POSSIBLY grandsons of Hugh Paul who leaves a will in Fredericks Co. VA naming, I assume, all of his children. They could also be original immigrants from Scotland, even though Hugh, at least would only have been about 15 yrs old when we first see any record of him. There are a few other possibilities, but this is the line most interesting to me at this time.
