Dear Betty, I believe there was an error made in the marriage date possibly, I have found no evidence of another Dicey Ann, other than Samuels daughter. Notice David was listed as an heir and he apparently filed for the hearing in the Silas Paul probate, and only "one" Dicey Ann is mentioned, and notice she is listed right after Samuel. I saw the date given in Robeson County marriages, they were transcribed from old records or perhaps people have made contributions from their own research, I am not sure, but I have found mistakes in some of the info before, such as all John H. Pauls children being born in Orange County NC. I will remain open on this subject and perhaps someone will see this and help clarify this matter. I figure the date to be closer to 1862. The daughter born in 1826 is C. Paul Stokes, she shows up in the 1860 census in Conecuh County Alabama, in the household of her sister Martha Ann Paul Fields, in 1850, William, Martha's husband is listed, by 1860 Martha is head of the household. Also listed with C. Paul Stokes are 2 daughters also born in NC, Mary,b.1847, C. b. 1849. Let me hear from you!!! MPB
