Sallie Patton and John Fisher Patton were my great grandparents. I have been told by a distant cousin that Sallie's family name was Thompson, but there was a bit of a family scandal where a relative murdered someone in Virginia, and when the family moved, some of the family went by the name "Shupe." The incident happened somewhere around Wytheville, Virginia.

I am interested in your statement that the Sallie and John are buried in Kingsport. Sallie is buried in Kingsport in East Lawn Cemetery, but the family does not know where John was buried. His children said that his people came and got his body and that they did not know where he was taken and buried. If you know where he is buried, I'd love to know. I have tried to solve this mystery, but have been unable to do so.

My grandmother was their daughter: Thelma Marie Patton.
