My records West Virginia Vol II show William's & John's father settled in Chester Co.PA. where three states border. William and his brother John came originaly from Chester than Lancaster County. Mention is also made of Brandwine settlement. The pattern of the John Smith, Alexander Lewis and William Patton families are interrelated and cover Uwachan, Chester County aand Lancaster County PA. William Patton and wife Susanna Lewis moved with Alexander Lewis m. to Mary Smith 1735, daughter of John Smith 1686 family to West Va. Smiths settled in the Scotch-Irish Brandywine Settlement in 1720.
