Hi Cindy
You didn't mention any data from the 1820 or 1830 census.
1820 census:
I find a Richard Patton located in St Clair, Butler Co., and there are 4 children listed. The oldest male and female are listed as being between 26 and 45.
1830 census:
I find a Richard Patten located in Twin, Darke Co., and there are 6 children listed. The oldest male is listed as being between 40 and 50, while there are 2 oldest females list as being between 20 and 30.
There is also another Richard Patton located in Marion, Marion Co., where the only male is listed as being between 20 and 30.
There are also 2 Colville familes located in Twin, Darke Co. in the 1830 census. Do you know who the parents of Lucy were?
1840 census:
Again, there's a Richard Paten located in Twin, Darke Co., the oldest male is between 50 and 60, while the oldest female is between 40 and 50.
The Richard Patten in Marion is listed as being between 30 and 40.
1850 census:
I find a Richard Patten in Marion which seems to match the ages found in 1830 and 1840, but doesn't match your information (names and dates). I can't find another Richard Patten in Marion County in 1850.
The census information tells me the Richard Patten located in Darke County in 1820, 1830, and 1840 could be both yours and my Richard Patten. He could have married in Washington County in 1805, moved to Darke County, married Lucy, and so on. (I haven't gone beyond 1850 yet).
What do you think?
Mark
