Below are all the Patton (Patten, etc) entries found in the 1850 Ill census. I have added some editorial remarks to help the researcher in [brackets]. I have traced some of these lines- if interested fire me off an email and we can compare notes.
I am sorry that the data you see here does not appear in neat columns. It was composed in Word Perfect format and when I post my files to Genforum all the formatting is removed. It is easy to copy the text you want and reformat using your own word processor however.

Note- Thomas married Sarah Mayhew in Washington Co OH on 2 Aug 1832. She had previously married Nathaniel Mayhew and presumably the above older two young men (aged 28) were her sons by this marriage. Thomas and Sarah are buried in Weathersfield Cem, Kewanee, Henry Co Ill. Thomas seems to have married at least once before. This line needs a lot of work!

The above was from a badly faded film so ages may not be correct. Joseph Patton, above, was a son of Thomas Patton, born 1768 in Ireland, who went to Fayette Co PA. Josephs biography has been printed. see page 29.7 of my Compendium. He and his wife had 11 children.

One wonders if the above is correct as copied- Alice might have been much younger than 55. Or there may be another explanation. A Josiah Patton married Eleanor Moore in White Co TN in 1839 but I do not find them in 1840.

[Israel Patton was born on 2 July 1800, reportedly at New Market, Jefferson Co Tenn, of unknown parentage. A large number of Patton groups lived in Jefferson Co. Israel might have been a son of Robert Patton (b 1769) by an unknown first marriage, and he did sell land to [a] Robert Patton on 23 Sept 1826, just before moving to Ill. Hannah Mills was apparently of a Quaker family, daughter of Samuel Mills.]
