I've just been told by the Louisiana Historical Archives people that my great-grandmother, Sarah, doesn't have a birth record. She died when I was 12, in 1982, in Kansas City, where she lived most of her life. She was married to Salvatore DeLuca (sometimes "diluca"), who died in 1971. She had always said she was born in "Martin City" Louisiana, though such a city seems to have never existed in LA. My educated guess is that she lived in St. Martinville Parish. My grandfather took her away in 1909 and they were married in Denison, Texas (grayson county). I've found some evidence of the surname in Grayson. It seems plausible that they went to that area because she had family there who might help them. They stayed in Denison for one year, and then moved to Sandoval, Illinois, where I'm guessing they operated a grocery or farmed. It seems they stayed there until 1916-1917. After which they lived in Missouri. First in Lee's Summit (on a farm) and then in the NE section of Kansas City where they operated a nursery(fruits, vegetables). The both died in this section of kansas city. I would be grateful for ANY clues as to Sarah's family. Grazie! Notify Administrator about this message?
