Oleeta,
I was just getting ready to reply to you on another ancient post of mine. This Elizabeth Patterson of yours is the sister of my direct ancestor, Mary Patterson.I have TONS on this line now, though more on their paternal line than their maternal line.
Elizabeth's father was Jeremiah Patterson, b. c1833, son of John Patterson b. 1794 SC and Sarah Jane "Jenny" Chapman b. c1813 (they were first cousins).Jeremiah was found in 1850 Gilmer County, GA w/ his family at age 17.He is never found again.
The son my elder relatives said was known as "Ball", was really "Baugh". And he did leave home, but he didn't go far - only as far as Hall County. His name was William Henson Patterson. He filed a Guion Miller application, along with a zillion cousins, children of his father's sister Nancy Patterson (who had married HER first cousin Samuel Patterson) who lived also in Hall County.Although it has numerous date errors, and although it was denied, it was nonetheless a wealth of information.Through it, I learned that Jeremiah's wife (Elizabeth's mother), Elizabeth Sarah, was born Elizabeth Sarah Davis, daughter of Jackson and Elizabeth Davis of "near Chattanooga, TN".I learned that Jeremiah died c1872, and then through putting some clues from Ward's book together, I figured out that Elizabeth Sarah Davis Patterson had remarried Bradley Hallford after Jeremiah Patterson died.In the 1880 census of Gilmer Co., you'll find Elizabeth Patterson Fain's siblings, Mary and Andrew Jackson, shown as Hallfords - an error.
So all of the family history is true - just off enough to make it difficult to track. For instance, the "Ace Fayne" was in fact Osco Fain.
Email me and I'll send you a genealogy report of the Patterson line.. it's too lengthy to post here.
On another note, I just posted on the Fain forum that I discovered a second wife of Osco's after Elizabeth died.I found him in 1910 Murray County married to a Margaret J. someone.. you might check out that post.
Great to hear from you!
