Robert Patterson of Saco, Pepperrellboro, Maine (ME)
Posted by: Stephanie Feldman (ID *****0588) Date: September 20, 2009 at 07:19:43
  of 11869

I have seen several children for Robert, and he did have many, but the children of his brother, John, are not recorded, and some must be John's and not Robert's. Both of which are the son of Robert and they apparently had a sister who married James McLellan.

I have NO idea why this will isn't commonly sited? Perhaps the Patterson descendants who have published were from the sons not mentioned?

Anyway, if your Saco Patterson was alive after 1797 and not mentioned in this will, he's likely a son of JOHN, not Robert!!

I'd be happy to converse with Robert Patterson descendants. I was SO happy to see my poor missing Elisha mentioned somewhere! As the youngest son, he went off rambling and so was lost to the genealogies. I would like to figure out where the daughters went to, none seem to have stayed in Saco, which is unfortunate. But that's fairly obvious, seeing as they are lost to the genealogies as well.

I am also curious about Grizzel/Grizzle Patterson married to Martin Jameson, is she a sister to this Robert or a descendant of a different one?

Here are the 1790 census Patterson's that I believe relate to this family:
Pepperell Gore, York, Maine:
PATTERSON, Robert 113
PATTERSON, Robert Jr 143 [Robert's son twice? John's son?]
PATTERSON, Samuel 125 [Robert's son]
PATTERSON, Andrew 144
PATTERSON, Benj 111 [Robert's son]
PATTERSON, David 111 [Robert's son]
PATTERSON, Elisha 1-2 [Robert's son]
PATTERSON, John 4-6
PATTERSON, Abraham 114
PATTERSON, Daniel 133
Belfast, Hancock, Maine:
PATTERSON, Wm 113
PATTERSON, Robert 143 [Robert's son]
PATTERSON, James 134 [Robert's son]
PATTERSON, Natl 324 [Robert's son]
PATTERSON, William 226 [Robert's son]
Little Falls, Cumberland, Maine:
PATTERSON, Joseph 1-6 [Robert's son??]

I typed this from a Lincoln County Wills transcription. I do not have the original at this time. There are some abbreviations and I believe s=son, sr=sister, fr=father "[descr]" I believe means the transcriber eliminated the description of the property. The sons also appear to be listed chronologically, which makes me think Joseph is born 1757, so not the Joseph born 1767.
