Have new reason to believe James' father may be one of the William Pattersons in Chatham, Guilford, or Randolph counties. James' wife, Mariah Edwards, born and raised in Chatham & Orange counties & I have her parents, etc. Had been told by my mother than James was born in Walker Co., GA, but nothing there bears it out. Have found James on two census records in AR where he states he, and his parents, were born in NC. James & Mariah both died and are buried at Hartford, Sebastian, Arkansas. At one time, they did live in Lafayette, Walker Co., GA, and my great grandfather, William James Patterson, was born there. An AR census record on William J. states both his parents were born in NC. I would appreciate any links or leads to finding James' parents and what the 'H' may stand for. Wondering if Hunter or Harrison lines are links as I find them with Pattersons at various times in various places. If you have any leads on my James H. Patterson, thank you.
