The Cumberland County NC estate settlement of Daniel Patterson, dated 1844, concerns Daniel Patterson, Jr. who died in 1827 and was the brother of:
Malcolm Patterson (died 1838);
Archibald Patterson;
Flora Patterson who married Angus McRae;
Sarah Patterson who married James Murphy and moved to Georgia;
Elizabeth Patterson who married Shockley Gibson and moved to Georgia;
Loveday Patterson who married John S. Harrell and moved to Mississippi.
The estate settlement shows that they each drew lots in the partition of "the lands of the late Daniel Patterson Senr (known as Raft Swamp Daniel Patterson)".
These people have not been known traditionally as the children of Raft Swamp Daniel Patterson, so... who are they?
Angus McRae signed over his interest in this estate to John Campbell and Alexander Watson, both of Robeson County, NC, in September of 1844, three months prior to the initial date of the estate settlement.
