PATTERSON - Indiana, Franklin and Fayette Co's.
Okay, here's the latest file update on my Pattersons - including James Patterson and Katherine Wheeler as the furthest back I could find.If anyone has more to add, please let us know.
Descendants of James Patterson
Generation No. 1
1.JAMES1 PATTERSON was born Abt. 1808 in Kentucky, USA, and died Bef. 1925 in Laurel, Franklin County, Indiana.He married CATHARINE WHEELER November 14, 1835 in Franklin County, Indiana.She was born Abt. 1820 in Kentucky, USA, and died October 15, 1896 in Laurel, Franklin County, Indiana.
Notes for JAMES PATTERSON:
1850 Census for Fayette County, Jackson Twp (Jackson was crossed out and it was written in Columbia Twp), Indiana:
James Patterson, age 41, farmer, born Indiana; wife Katharine, age 30, born KY; children are G.W. (most likely George) age 19 born KY; John, age 10, born Indiana; Zippora, age 8, born Ind; Polly, age 6, born Ind; Elizabeth, age 4, born Ind; James, age 2, born Ind
===============================================
1840 Census for Fayette County, Columbia Twp
James Patterson, one male 20--30; 2 males under 5; one female 20-30.
There is also a John Patterson, one male 20-30; one female under 5; one female 20-30.
A George Patterson, one male 20-30; one male 50-60; one male under 5; one female 15-20; one female 50-60; one female 10-15.
Therefore, it is assumed that James, John, and George *could* be brothers, with the father of all three living with George in 1850.We should look for a will or probate record forPatterson, born about 1780 in Kentucky or Virginia (because James Patterson states his birthplace as Kentucky and many Kentuckians originated from Virginia).There was a John Patterson who died in 1837 in the 75th year of his age - could be a grandfather - if we look also for his probate records it may state his son and/or grandchildren.John's wife was Mary, died 1824 at 60 yrs.
