I am descended from Joseph Davis and Rebecca Patten/Pattin.
I am seeking some sort of primary documentation re: Joseph.
Find-A-Grave website shows his headstone located in the Old South Graveyard in Billerica, MA.
Says he died 9/30/1747, aged 80. [thus born 1667.
He and wife Rebecca had 11 children.
Vital Records of both Reading and Billerica show Joseph DOB 3/26/1669 in Reading, MA. Thus would have been age 78 when he died. Or his stone is engraved incorrectly.
I am also questioning the identity of his parents. Birth Record only lists his father as Joseph, no mother's name.
Several sources show our Joseph Davis as son of Joseph Davis (abt 1643 - 1676/77) and Elizabeth Saywell (md 1661/2). I have seen some that say he was the son of George Davis.
Some reliable sources show Elizabeth to be d/o David Saywell while others have Robert Saywell.
DO YOU KNOW OF ANY PRIMARY SOURCES TO PROVIDE THE DATA NEEDED TO SORT THIS ALL OUT?
