I'm afraid that you are mistaken.
The site Canadian Military Heritage Project at http://www.rootsweb.com/~canmil/ is FREE.
There is no charge for anything on this site and it does not "take" you to Ancestry.com
You did not pay anyone on CMHP money, because there is never a charge to use any of the databases there.
You must have been on another site, or you clicked on a link on CHMP that took you OFF site.
The URL I gave you in my original message will take you directly to a FREE database.
Please be sure you understand the difference in sites - if the site URL doesn't start with http://www.rootsweb.com/~canmil/ it is NOT Canadian Military Heritage Project
