Andrew Paton born 1805 in Scotland died in South Africa

I am looking for help with an Andrew Paton born in Aberdeen on the 5th January 1805. All I know about him is that he ended up in South Africa and knew "The" Andrew Murray very well. The family stories state that he was somehow related to the Duke of Gordon/Marquis of Huntley, but that may just be a story. There was also talk of a title which went to a Paton in Australia and an inheritance in Chancery. I was also told by an old Aunt that the Parish church where his records would have been kept burnt down.

I have been doing so well in tracing the line back to him, but am now stumped. If anyone knows anything that may help I would be so grateful.
