I am not sure exactly where my Patons fit in this mix. We were always told that Captain John Paton was related to our Paton family. I can only go back as far as 1844 for the birth of my great, great, grandfather William Paton. I believe his father was Thomas (who was born in Scotland) and that is as far as I know. I was given a book that is Tradition of the Covenanters with the stories of Captain John Paton in it. I also have an exremely large photo of a battle presumably showing John Paton on a horse with a sword and bible. I have been trying for years to trace back farther without success
