I don’t offer you any connections or help, I’m yet to connect any of our Paton ancestry to Ireland, Indeed they originate out of Dundee Scotland a long way from Lanark County, (now Lanarkshire? I guess).. But obviously the names include in your family were popular, (including my father Harold 1905-1996). Likewise we have a number of Williams ::::
We have a William Paton b1768 married Agnes Moodie (or Mudie) Children that included: Ann 1792, William 1793, Margaret 1795, George 1796, Katherine 1798, Isobell 1800, David 1801, Jane 1804, Charles 1806. We have William 1793 having children that included: Helen 1815, Ann 1817, Janet1819, George 1822, Peter 1823, Jean 1828, David 1830, James 1832, Katherine 1835. We have George 1822 having children that included: George 1846, William 1847, David 1852 who died in Canada 1911, Alexander 1858, Agnes 1861, Isabelle 1861 died in Australia 1887. We have Charles 1806 having children that included Jeffs 1837 died in NZ 1837, John ??, Jessie 1828, Elizabeth 1832 died in NZ 1899, Jean 1835.
All of these PATON’S were born in or close to Dundee, obviously many had married and had children who are not listed here. My interest is James 1832 my great grandfather who married cousin Elizabeth 1832, they immigrated to NZ 1858-9 with four children and had another eight there. For an unknown reason they changed the family name from Paton to Patten. Of course I have all this in a Legacy Data Base my Paton / Patten lists about 600 in a total 1000, of which I’m happy to share with you should a link be established.
