The Family story is that she 'was' the daughter of Lord and Lady Paton? OR is it Panton? Did they exist? Also said-- there is a Paton /Coates (cotton) Connection. Her Mother may have married a Coates after her husband died. Caroline is said to have been born in London, though another researcher says Kent? Dates of birth also seem to vary from 1802/4/6 upwards.Though I still cant find her birth. - She arrived in Australia 1824 on the "Lady McNaughton" with Baroness Burdett-Coutts--friend or servant??
Another story is that it was the"Red Rover " in 1819/20 at the age of 15?? I can't find her on the online ships lists!
She went on to marry in Sydney,,a convict--Joseph Greenhalgh. They had 10 children and lived in Lismore NSW AU. Caroline became known as one of the great pioneering ladies in the cedar timber industry. Known as GRANNY GREENHALGH. She died in 1913 at the age of 108--recorded.Details on D.Cert says her mother's name was Payton??Don't think her decendants knew what her name was. Marriage C,states Panton. ???
SO ,CAN ANY BODY OUT THERE HELP ME FIND THE REAL STORY.would love to hear from you
