PATON FROM STIRLINGSHIRE

I have a James Paton and Catherine Park, born and married in Stirlingshire, Scotland.
According to ships manifest (the Mary Shepherd)arrived in Australia in 1849, James and Catherine came from a place called ALACE, Stirlingshire.
Is there or was there such a place in Stirlingshire as I can't seem to find out anything about it.
Can anyone help?
