Gordon is any of the following of interest??

We suspect that the following Cpt John Paton was a brother to our great-great grand farther William Paton as:

William did own of ship called “Maxwell” of Dundee which was of sixty six tons and a John Paton was master.

From the 1841 Census you will find under the following:

Piece: SCT1841/282 Place: Dundee-Angus Enumeration District: 14
Civil Parish: Dundee Ecclesiastical Parish, Village or Island: Dundee
Folio: 14 Page: 11
Address: Exchange Street

John Paton, 45 years of age,         Ships Master,        born in Angus.

This makes the birth of this Cpt John Paton about 1796.

Any interest or connection ??

If so, very interesting to us.

Regards Peter P
