You are descended from a long line of Galston coal miners and we share a common Paton ancestor. Your line is as follows:

1. James Paton (ca 1790-1865) mar Jean Sharp ... had son

2. George Paton (1811-1873) mar Janet Roxburgh ... had son

3. George Paton (1842-1889) mar Janet Mair ... had son

4. George Paton(1867-1944) your Grandfather.

I am also descended from James Paton and Jean Sharp through another son William Paton (1822-1863)and Margaret Mair.

I have researched this family line extensively and have a lot of census and B/M/D information which I will share with you.
