Wright Patman's grandfather, John Benjamin Patman, was born 23 Feb 1839 Lexington, Georgia, the son of Elias Bell Patman and Lucinda A. Peterman. Wright Patman's father, John N. Patman, was born 1868 in Vivian, Louisiana. They were in the Hughes Springs, Cass Co., Texas area by 1877.
