For a long time now I have been trying to determine the parents of my ancestress Martha Waddell born in 1804 in Hanover Co VA.Recently I've come to the conclusion that she was the daughter of James Waddell and his wife Ann Bigger[s] who married in Richmond VA in 1787, and ended up in Hanover Co VA by 1800.When James and Ann were married, the bondsman was William Patman - husband of Susannah Bigger, and leading me to suspect a close relationship between Ann and Susannah Biggers.Just last week I discovered that one of Ann's daughters - Susannah Waddell who married William West in 1824 in Hanover Co VA (and had many children) named her fifth child, "John Biggers West."This leads me to believe that Ann's father was John Biggers, and perhaps Susannah's was as well.John Biggers migrated to Prince Edward Co in the 1740s and Elizabeth Cary's father came in the 1760s.William Cary's 1784 will named his daughter as Elizabeth Bigger. There is not proof she was the mother of Ann and Susannah, as John Bigger clearly had an earlier wife also who was the mother of his son John born in the 1740s.Would enjoy corresponding with anyone interested in this question.
