James Paterson from Edinburgh settled in Footscray, Victoria

James Paterson emigrated to Australia probably between 1839 and 1850. By 1870 he had settled in Footscray, Melbourne, Victoria. His children were Alexander, Barbara, Jeannie, John, William, James and Jessie.
A Mrs. Kettlewell wrote home in the 1960's of her uncle James. I would appreciate any help in knowing his wife's name and of any descendants of his children.
